What is a Microschool?
A microschool is an independent learning institution that reinvents the one-room schoolhouse where there are mixed-age level groupings. According to Microschool Revolution (2023) a microschool is described as "outsourced homeschooling," free from the bureaucracy, standardized tests, and mandatory curriculum that defines today's public school system. Microschools are efficiently run, and student engagement is remarkably high. Additionally, Microschools focus on personalized learning and often employ innovative teaching methods, technology, and project-based learning experiences. They are often smaller in size than traditional schools, with a low student-teacher ratio and a focus on individual student needs and interests.
