AWE interns are in middle or high school, have an interest in children or STEM, or both.
Interns are to complete a PD on Saturday May 3rd from 9:00-3:00pm and work at least 3 of the 10 summer session weeks from 8:00 am to 3:45 pm. Interns are awarded a $150 stipend for each week they intern. |

Intern Responsibilities:
At a STEM camp for explorers ages 4-11, interns (ages 12 and up) can take on meaningful and engaging roles that enhance both the campers' experience and their own skills. Here are some potential responsibilities and activities for interns:

- Assist with Activities: Help younger campers with hands-on STEM experiments, coding projects, or art activities, ensuring they stay on track and engaged.
- Supervise and Guide: Provide support during park trips, yoga, and other active moments, ensuring safety and fun for all campers.
- Encourage Participation: Motivate campers to try new activities and explore their curiosity in a positive and patient manner.
- Prepare Materials: Set up equipment, supplies, and materials for daily activities, such as building kits, lab stations, or art supplies.
- Help with Clean-Up: Ensure workspaces are tidy and organized after activities, teaching campers responsibility.
- Document Activities: Take photos or notes for camp newsletters, social media updates, or project showcases.
- Lead Mini-Sessions: Plan and lead short, age-appropriate activities under staff supervision, like a simple coding demo or art project.
- Mentor Campers: Serve as a role model by demonstrating teamwork, creativity, and problem-solving skills.
- Check-In Assistance: Help with camper arrival and departure by checking names and assisting with their belongings.
- Track Supplies: Monitor inventory levels for specific projects and report to staff when restocking is needed.
- Create Learning Aids: Design posters, charts, or visual aids to support STEM lessons and themes.
- Showcase Coordination: Assist in organizing end-of-camp presentations or exhibitions to showcase campers' projects to families.
- Attend staff training sessions to build teaching and facilitation skills.
- Participate in age-appropriate STEM activities to deepen their understanding of the concepts.
- Develop leadership and time management skills through hands-on experience.
