Elizabeth "Lizzie" KilleenVice President Lizzie brings a strong background in communications, public service, and administrative support to her role as Vice President of the AWE STEM board. With over a decade of experience in journalism through college publications, internships, and professional roles, she offers valuable insight into storytelling, media strategy, and community engagement. Her additional experience in human resources, public libraries, and university finance equips her with a well-rounded understanding of organizational operations and public-facing service. Lizzie’s diverse skill set and commitment to education make her a thoughtful and effective leader in advancing AWE’s mission.
Dr. Raphyel RosbyFundraising Director and STEM Educator
Dr. Raphyel Rosby serves as the Fundraising Chair for the AWE STEM board, bringing a strong background in scientific research, education, and mentorship. As an Assistant Professor of Biology at Southern University A&M College in Baton Rouge, he has over 16 years of experience teaching and conducting research in molecular biology. His work explores critical topics such as ribosome biogenesis defect pathways and the vascular impacts of the COVID-19 virus. With a robust publication record and an active research lab that trains both undergraduate and graduate students, Dr. Rosby brings a deep understanding of STEM education and a passion for expanding access to scientific learning. His leadership in fundraising reflects his commitment to empowering the next generation of scientists and innovators through equitable educational opportunities.

Benita CochranCommunity/Volunteer Engagement DirectorBenita Cochran serves as the Community and Volunteer Engagement Director for the AWE STEM board, bringing a powerful commitment to advocacy, equity, and community empowerment. A proud mother of two daughters, Benita has years of experience in parent leadership and language justice through her impactful work with the Parent Leadership Training Institute (PLTI) and as Co-Director of the Parent Leadership Collaborative. She specializes in fostering peer support networks and equipping families with tools for effective advocacy, guided by her deep belief in the power of collaboration and collective action. With a B.A. in Political Science from Dillard University and an M.S. in Management from Troy State University, Benita plays a vital role in strengthening AWE’s relationships with families, volunteers, and the broader community.
Raji GanesanProgram Development ChairRaji serves as the Program Development Chair for the AWE STEM board, bringing seven years of experience as a youth educator across traditional and alternative learning environments. Her work centers on expressive and healing arts, STEM, and ecological education, with a deep commitment to nurturing the whole child. Outside the classroom, Raji is an urban farmer, artist, and herbalist, integrating creativity and wellness into all aspects of her life and teaching. She believes in the transformative power of educational models rooted in exploration, social justice, and holistic health. Raji’s visionary approach helps shape AWE’s programs to be joyful, liberatory, and grounded in the needs of young people and their communities.

Libra Pealer and Casius PealerCo-TreasurersLibra LaGrone Pealer and Casius Pealer bring a powerful combination of expertise in nonprofit finance, cultural stewardship, architecture, and sustainability to their shared role as Co-Treasurers of the AWE STEM board. Libra currently serves as Managing Director at the Innocence Project New Orleans and has an extensive background in finance, development, and curation through her leadership roles at the Newcomb Art Museum and the Ogden Museum of Southern Art. She also brings valuable nonprofit governance experience from her board service with A Studio in the Woods. Casius is an architect and attorney advancing equitable decarbonization strategies in the building sector through his work with the Institute for Market Transformation. A founding faculty member of Tulane’s MSRED program, he has been nationally recognized for his work at the intersection of sustainable design, community development, and housing justice. Together, Libra and Casius steward AWE’s financial health and long-term sustainability with integrity, creativity, and a deep commitment to social equity and educational access.
